Welcome to the website of Kahurangi Outpost.
Kahurangi Outpost is a new accommodation lodge for up to 28 people, located at Mangarakau, in a remote corner of North West Nelson beyond Collingwood. Behind are bush clad hills topped with impressive limestone bluffs and on three boundaries is Kahurangi National Park. Opposite is the Mangarakau Wetland Reserve with it's own interesting walks and abundant birdlife.
It has a well equipped kitchen, large lounge with log fire, 5 bedrooms (all with a double bed) showers, laundry, tennis court and swimming pool (primary school size)
Walk, cave, mountain-bike, tramp, surf, windsurf, play tennis, swim (river or pool), birdwatch, tramp, 4WD, fish (sea and rivers), climb, whitebait (in season), read, play petanque, play outdoor draughts, climb to the Lookout Tree, explore Mangarakau Wetlands Reserve, dive, relax on the veranda, beachwalk, visit The Nugget Cafe (in season), visit the WoodCarver...(click on our activities link for more details)
This venue is most suitable for educational groups, clubs, family re-unions, tramping clubs, craft groups, sports and hobby interest groups, 4WD clubs, canoeists etc. as well as casual bookings.
At all times other than mid December to the end off January we will grant exclusive use if you have a group of 10 or more .
From mid December to the end off January we will grant exclusive use if you have a group of 16 or more .
